Love Me Tender
Silk is delicate, not difficult.

Silk Is Delicate, Not Difficult.
Cold water, gentle detergent and absolutely no tumble dryer. That’s most of it.
Hand washing is what we recommend, and it takes about five minutes, which means the silk and the copper both last longer. But we are realists, so a gentle machine cycle can also do the trick.
- Soak. Fill a clean sink with cold water and a small amount of silk-safe detergent. Submerge the pillowcase inside out.
- Swish gently. For 3–5 minutes. No scrubbing, no rubbing, no wringing.
- Rinse, drain and refill with clean cold water until every trace of suds is gone.
- Turn inside out and place in a mesh washing bag. Consider this non-negotiable.
- Give her space. Wash alone or only with other silk. Against rough fabrics, silk loses its softness.
- Be kind. Cold water, under 30°C. Delicate cycle. Lowest spin your machine allows.
- Sensitive like your skin. pH-neutral, enzyme-free detergent. No bleach, no fabric softener, not once.
Then Drying
- Press the water out. Against the side of the sink or between your hands. Never twist, never wring.
- Towel roll. Lay it flat on a clean white towel. Roll the towel up, and press gently to pull out what’s left.
- Dry. Unroll and lay it flat, or hang it, to air dry, away from direct sun and direct heat.
The Short List
Things Silk Will Not Forgive
- Bleach
- Fabric softener
- Hot water above 30°C
- The tumble dryer
- Wringing or twisting
- Direct sunlight
- Towels or denim
- Enzyme detergents
Note To Self
Good things last longer
when you look after them.
Repeated washing gradually takes its toll on any treated textile. We don’t yet have enough long-term durability data on Pillow By Limen to give you a wash count, so we’re not going to invent one to make ourselves sound clever.
Wash it cool. Wash it gently.
Good care. Longer love affair.
